| | Good morning. Three years ago, JD Vance was an author and first-time Senate candidate. Now, he's the Vice President of the United States and playing a major role in the Trump administration. But how well he performs may just determine if he has the starring role in the next presidential administration. Plus, the government might shut down next month — and this time, it's the Democrats who may have reason to worry if it does. | Mentioned in this edition: RFK Jr., Mitch McConnell, Elbridge Colby, Roger Wicker, JD Vance, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky, Kash Patel, Linda McMahon, John Fetterman, Marco Rubio, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Doug Burgum, Kamala Harris, Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Ro Khanna, and more. | | Have tips? | | 🔎 WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | ✅ RFK Jr. was confirmed by the Senate. In a 52-48 vote — with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) voting with the Democrats — Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed and, shortly after, sworn in as Secretary of Health and Human Services. President Trump immediately announced that Kennedy would lead a panel to investigate an increase in chronic pediatric illnesses. | 👨⚖️ The Trump administration will ask the Supreme Court to overturn a key case. The acting solicitor general announced the DOJ would ask the Supreme Court to overrule Humphrey's Executor vs. United States, which upheld the constitutionality of independent agencies like USAID. Overturning the decision would dramatically expand President Trump's ability to remake the federal government. | ✏️ The House is trying to make it easier to erase last-minute rules. Republicans in the House of Representatives passed the "Midnight Rules Relief Act," which makes it easier to repeal rules written into law by a president. Current law mandates each rule be repealed with its own resolution; if passed, this would allow multiple rules to be repealed with one resolution. Senate passage is unlikely. | 🚨 GOP senators are concerned about one of Trump's nominees. Elbridge Colby, Trump's nominee for undersecretary for policy at the Pentagon, has come under fire from establishment groups for his desire to decrease America's footprint in Europe and his statements opposing war with Iran. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), who chairs the Armed Services Committee, said Colby's views were "a concern" to other senators. |

| | 🦅 THE EXECUTIVE | Vice President JD Vance will be meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today in Munich, where he'll also be speaking. President Trump signed an executive order to begin an overhaul of the Foreign Service. Trump also signed an order beginning the process of levying reciprocal tariffs on countries that tariff the US, though the tariffs won't be placed until April. The Trump administration directed agency heads to fire most probationary workers, potentially eliminating up to 200,000 individuals.
