🏛 Trump selected Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. In a pick that shocked all of Capitol Hill, Donald Trump chose Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to head the Department of Justice. Gaetz, who immediately resigned his House seat for the appointment, now effectively ended the House Ethics probe into his allegedly illicit behavior.

🕵️‍♀️ Tulsi Gabbard named director of national intelligence. Donald Trump appointed former Democratic congresswoman and recent Republican convert Tulsi Gabbard to lead the nation's 17 intelligence agencies. Trump praised Gabbard's "fearless spirit" and commitment to "championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength."

🔒 CIA official charged in classified leak on Israel's Iran strike plans. Asif W. Rahman, who held a top-secret clearance, was arrested in Cambodia after highly sensitive documents regarding Israel's potential retaliation against Iran surfaced online. The leak sparked concerns over intelligence security, with some warning it could strain US-Israel relations due to the sensitive nature of the information.

🚨 FBI raided the Polymarket CEO's home. Agents raided Shayne Coplan's home around 6 am on Wednesday morning, though details on what they sought or the target of the investigation remain unclear. A Polymarket spokesperson suggested the raid was "political retribution" for the platform's role in correctly predicting the recent presidential election.

WHAT WE'RE HEARING

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) called Gaetz's nomination "god-tier level trolling" to "own the libs in perpetuity."
Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) commented on Gaetz's nomination: "People voted for cheaper eggs, not whatever the f@#€ this is."
Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) said Illinois will not accept National Guard troops to help with deportation raids.
Charlie Kirk warned that Republicans who "voted for Garland and won't vote for Gaetz" will face an "immediate primary challenge."
Pollster Nate Silver said that the Democrats deserved to lose.

NARRATIVE TRACKER

Politico commented that Defense Department (DOD) lobbyists and bureaucrats are unhappy with Trump's pick of Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense. This, however, is one of the main reasons why he was chosen; career DOD officials have presided over failed policies like the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
Whoopi Goldberg said Pete Hegseth "clearly does not know anything about the military." Hegseth served tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and earned two Bronze Stars.
The New York Times is trying to figure out why Democrats are struggling to win young men. They mainly focus on economic and other policy issues, but fail to consider the left's contempt for traditional masculinity and values, often labeling men "toxic."
The New York Times also spoke to many voters who ultimately decided to vote for Trump because of his appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast.
Cathy Young, writing for The Boston Globe, struggles to understand why so many women voted for Trump, identifying the election as a "battle of the sexes." Young essentially calls Trump's female voters too ignorant to consider his "misogyny."
