Hey man,
I wanted to follow up on my last newsletter and share the results regarding the electronic car products.
Scroll down to the bottom for the results as this picture really has no relevance to the topic at hand.
| | Some of you asked why we're not looking at going deeper and wider . Well, first of all.. | | Yes, I spent 5 minutes of corporate time to find a gif. This is what you're paying the ceramic big bucks for.
| | And secondly, these are our two DIY ceramic coatings. They're specifically designed to be applied by the average weekend warrior with no previous detailing experience, a science degree, or the need for 12 layers.
They cure quickly, they're flexible and forgiving in a range of temperatures and humidity.
They work really well.
So, why not just stick to coatings? Well, partly we don't want to a have a Chemical Guys lineup of 63 different products doing the exact same thing.
The other thing is I just honestly don't think the technology has moved that much recently for us to justify a new version and charge more money for it. | | | Armor Shield IX DIY Ceramic Coating Kit |
| | | | | Armor Shield IX MAX DIY Ceramic Coating Kit |
| | | | | | Now I know 50% of you have one of these coating already. 30% of you will be like nah, thanks, get stuffed. But to the other 20% of you that want a shiny, easy to clean car, thats protected for at least a couple of years, then click of one of the pictures above and read our reviews. | | This could be you if you coated your car, were a male model, got a $2000 day rate and owned a classic 200k Bronco.
| | SO, WHAT E-PRODUCT SHOULD WE MAKE FIRST? | | So, as you can see almost half of you voted for the car dryer/ air duster as the first electronic product we should build.
A further 25% of you were interested in a portable car vacuum. The rest of the responses were a mix of various other product ideas or telling us to stick to coatings.
It did also generate a fair amount of sentiment around why we're considering expanding into electronics.
I'll look to address that in detail in my next email and expand on what we're looking to accomplish.
Best, Dave
