Ryan, along with his co-founder & brother, Andrew, grew up inspired by the surrounding nature in Eugene, Oregon.

After graduation from the University of Oregon, Ryan moved to China and began teaching English.

While visiting a trade show featuring many different types of materials, Ryan had the idea: to craft a highly personal product, made out of unique and meaningful materials, that speaks specifically to the individual consumer.

Andrew's service in the US Marines Corps has had a great influence on the culture at Original Grain.

Started in 2013, the early days of OG were marked by working harder and longer than the competition.
