How to Build a Limousine From Your Counter top With a Wooden Work bench
For a worktop bench, a hobby room or anywhere in your home or
garage, you can build a butcher-block counter that's nearly
indestructible using two-by-four studs. Placing the studs side by side
gives the counter strength, durability and moisture resistance that only
comes when the side grain is facing up. Side grain adds thickness and
beauty. Build an old-style butcher block counter and install it on top
of any cabinet for a permanent counter that won't warp or crack.

Run all of the studs down to 1 1/4 inch in thickness. Use a planer, a stationary sander, or have a cabinet shop run them for you. This is to remove the rounded edges on the studs so that they laminate together flat, with no gaps.Step 2
Lay the studs flat across two sawhorses. Mix the resin glue with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the glue into a glue bottle.
This workbench is simple enough and cheap enough
that you can make it in a morning, and yet it's big enough for serious
woodworking and hobby projects. Add pegboard, a bench vise and a few
other accessories and you'll have a serious work center.

You can either screw the framing together with 3-in. screws or hand- or power-nail it together with 3-in. nails. Screw the plywood down with 1-5/8-in. screws.
To make these project plans even easier to follow, we tinted the parts that get added at each step.
