| | WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | ๐ช Trump hints at invoking the Insurrection Act. President Trump mobilized more than 700 Marines to Los Angeles amid escalating protests against immigration raids, joining 4,000 National Guard troops already deployed. Trump openly called protesters "insurrectionists" while threatening to deploy troops "everywhere" across the country, and responded, "We'll see," to a media question on invoking the Insurrection Act. The Insurrection Act would grant Trump the legal authority to deploy the military without a state's approval. | ๐ FBI rescued 109 children from online exploitation. The FBI arrested 244 alleged child predators through Operation Soteria Shield, based out of Texas. Authorities seized 1,130 digital devices containing 213 terabytes of exploitation evidence after executing 165 search warrants. This massive operation underscores the Bureau's pivot back toward traditional law enforcement rather than political investigations. | โ๏ธ House Republicans demand real spending cuts. Dozens of Republicans warned Senate GOP leaders against using "budget gimmicks" in Trump's tax package, insisting additional cuts be matched "dollar-for-dollar by real, enforceable spending reductions." The 37 Republican signatories specifically opposed "timing shifts" that don't create genuine savings. Tensions are growing in the Republican Congress, creating hurdles to passing Trump's Big, Beautiful Bill. | ๐ฎ๐ท Iran demands continued uranium enrichment capability. The Iranians rejected a crucial part of the US nuclear proposal by insisting on maintaining enrichment activities on Iranian soil. Despite scheduled talks Thursday, Trump warned that Iran's position is "not acceptable" and alternatives are "very, very dire." The standoff highlights Iran's unwavering commitment to preserving nuclear capabilities despite mounting international pressure. |

| | THE MAIN STORY | Newsom picks Trump fight over riot crackdown | | WHAT'S HAPPENING_ | In response to violent protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Los Angeles, Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has focused his ire on the Trump administration rather than the rioters. | After protesters engaged in rioting, burning vehicles, throwing rocks at officers, and defacing buildings, President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard without Newsom's permission, marking the first such action since 1965. | Newsom, eyeing a run for the Democratic presidential nomination, blasted Trump's actions as "chaotic" and "reckless" โ even as the president's deportation agenda remains popular. | | _THE FACTS_ | President Trump deployed 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines without Gov. Newsom's permission. Newsom called the deployment "illegal" and "unconstitutional" and filed a lawsuit asking for a temporary restraining order, claiming breach of state sovereignty. The judge, a Clinton appointee, rejected Newsom's request to halt the deployment. Last night, in an address to Californians, Newsom portrayed the federal mobilization as an attack on democracy. Newsom claimed ICE was simply trying to meet "an arbitrary deportation quota" rather than addressing illegal immigration, and denied there was a problem before Trump mobilized troops. Border czar Tom Homan warned against harboring illegal aliens and impeding law enforcement are felonies; Newsom dared Homan to come and arrest him. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell stated the violence was "getting increasingly worse." LAPD made 113 arrests during Monday's chaos โ 14 for looting, one for assault with a deadly weapon; two officers were injured. Sheriff Chad Bianco of nearby Riverside County urged Newsom to "put his phone down" as he was "doing nothing but fueling this process." One poll found that 54 percent of Americans support Trump's immigration policies; another had 59 percent agreeing with his mobilization of the National Guard.
